UGA’s Innovation Gateway serves the university’s research enterprise by assisting in the translation of ideas and discoveries into products, services, technologies and companies, thereby catalyzing economic development.

The Innovation Gateway startup incubator enables startups to accelerate their early growth through access to space, state-of-the-art equipment and support services.

Startup Companies

Twenty startups are currently resident companies within UGA’s Innovation Gateway startup incubator on the UGA campus. Resident companies have access to incubator space, state-of-the art equipment, business expertise, strategic partnerships, support services, and opportunities to access funding from the Georgia Research Alliance.  Nine companies have graduated from UGA’s startup incubator since its inception in 2000.

Startups for Smarties

The Startups for Smarties program offers guidance to inventors interested in commercializing their academic research through a startup formation. Services include guidance on legal, financial, strategic and organization issues that new start-ups encounter during their formation.
